I don't usually let the actions of others bother me, but the goings on this week in the news have made me feel like I have to speak up. I have always been very proud to call Canada my home. I know it can be cold, like now, but I was born and raised here so I appreciate the changing seasons. Yes, I love my home, especially the province of Ontario where I have lived all my life,,,until now. If you own a television or computer you have seen these two people in the news this past week. Yes I'm talking about Toronto's Mayor Rob Ford and singer Justin Bieber. I want to point out right away that Rob Ford is not my mayor (thank goodness) but unfortunately these two people come from my beloved province of Ontario. They have become a source of constant embarrassment not only for Canada but especially for us proud people who take pride in our home province. I guess what I'm trying to say is please don't judge the rest of us by what these two do. We are, in my opinion good, hardworking people. I just wish these two would start acting better and stop giving late night television their nightly monologues. Just one more thing, Justin Bieber please stop embarrassing your hometown of Stratford, they don't deserve it, it's a beautiful place.
I haven't been to your country much. Actually, I've only seen the Western portion of it near the Alaskan Inside Passage. But what I've seen so far is absolutely beautiful. You SHOULD be proud.
Don't worry about too much about the Biebs. Louisiana claims Brittany Spears but we also have Harry Connick, Jr., Ellen DeGeneres and whole wealth of other talented individuals I'd break bread with any day of the week.
Thanks for linking up with us, Barbara. See you again soon.
Did my first comment go through? I don't know. So I'll be one of those crazy people who says everything twice. (Ugh.)
I've only been to your country once and it was the Western side of it. Along the Alaskan Inside Passage to be exact. But what I saw was absolutely beautiful. You've got plenty to be proud of.
Don't worry about Bieber. We claim Brittany Spears down here and that doesn't stop me from being proud of my roots. We've also got Harry Connick, Jr., Ellen DeGeneres and a whole wealth of others I'm very proud to call my own.

Your comments did go through, but they were so great I thought I would print them both. I think we all have our problem people no matter where you live. :-)
Their stories will both pass soon enough, and just be a footnote to the Canadian story.
ReplyDeleteI know, but their still a major embarrassment to us.
